JOURNEY WITH COSMODREAMS

Solo Exhibition by Russian Artist Marina Fedorova in Shanghai (16.10.21-16.02.25)

On November 16, 2024, a solo exhibition by contemporary Russian artist Marina Fedorova will open in Shanghai. The Chinese public will experience a new immersive environment featuring augmented reality, video art, and interactive installations. The exhibition will run at the Powerlong Museum until February 16, 2025.

The exhibition "Journey with Cosmodreams" will be held at the Powerlong Art Museum in Shanghai from November 16, 2024, to February 16, 2025. Cosmodreams is an artistic project that celebrates space exploration and romantic memories of the USSR's achievements in space. Fedorova reinterprets the philosophy of futurism, contemplating where it might lead us in the 21st century.

The exhibition by a Russian artist in one of Shanghai's prestigious art venues marks an important stage in cultural exchange between Russia and China, showcasing the power of art to bring these two great cultures closer together and creating a new perspective on the global stage. The artist sees potential in the spiritual connections between the two nations, which can help the audience to understand and experience the artist's  works influenced by Russian heritage.

The exhibition spans 700 square metres and is divided into five zones to explore how technological advancements shape human perceptions of life, nature, and the universe. The five areas of the exhibition range from outer space to a vision of the city of the future. They also delve into the connection between nature and human emotions, creating a poetic dialogue between humanity and the cosmos.

Cosmodreams: Exploring the Infinite by Marina Fedorova was developed specifically for the Shanghai Powerlong Museum. For the first time Cosmodreams project created interactive zones. These zones are designed for direct visitor engagement through movement, sensory input, and digital technologies such as AR, VR, touchscreen panels. The interactive areas include a playground, a bar installation, and a nature-themed zone. These additions were created to support participation from a wide range of audiences, including children. The exhibition is organized as a sequence of thematic zones that combine painting, sculpture, lenticular prints, lightboxes and digital media. This format introduces new content and methods not previously included in earlier Cosmodreams exhibitions.

The artist blends traditional painting techniques with modern digital technologies, such as augmented reality (AR), video art, and interactive installations. The exhibition emphasises the contrast between cosmic space and earthly nature through visual, colour, and sound elements, highlighting the relationship between technology and artistic expression.

The Cosmodreams project is made possible through the active support of Sputnik Partners, a company dedicated to preserving and promoting cultural and historical heritage.
